Meaning that it can totally just move between hosting providers if it needs to.Jersh's fundamental failing with the Zayo situation has been that the location of the actual server needs to be hidden.Even though he has his own server and IP address allocation, it still makes sense to run everything on a VPS and proxy to it.You don't have to worry about the VPS because its location is not known, and no one would know who to complain to.The next important thing is an onion site on the main server. This means that even if the clearnet site gets taken down, the onion site still remains up.Additionally, the hack showed issues with how he was managing the site on a fundamental level.If you're one guy, and tons of people hate you, then using your own code is a risk. If a vulnerability is found, they're going to use it against your custom code, and fewer people with good intentions are going to look for vulnerabilities to report.Look, maybe that was an okay mistake to make *ONCE*. But then, he brings the chat back up, continuing to use custom made code. I think Null's stubbornness in his own ways is why the forum's still up, but it also can be quite counterproductive to its goals.

His security model has been clearly busted for a while, being that DDoSers were both managing to bypass CloudFlare and other anti-DDoS services daily, and that he was trying to write his own code. He's trying to do the same with sneedforo instead of using say, PHPBB and there's also forums written in other langs like asp.net and whatnot if he wants to avoid PHP.Anglin on the other hand uses Wordpress, which might have vulnerabilities but also has enough people using it and patching it to both mitigate them and give tips on how to mitigate them to others. This is what numerous other big name news sites use as well. I think what's also important is that Josh hasn't been the best coder in the past. Namely two things come to mind; the IP leak of 2019 and before that Infinity Next/9chan. Before the farms were as prominent as they are now thanks to numerous events including the slow downfall of 8chan and 4chan's perpetual state of shit that somehow gets shittier, Josh really first gained disdain from 8chan users over the shitshow known as Infinity Next. This was oftentimes mocked with names like "Infinity Never" back in the day due to it's vaporware status and the software having major flaws, including you guessed it, IP leaks.

PHP has functions to do things like sanitize html, and supports parameterized queries in SQL by default. Rust might have those in custom libraries, but they might not be as carefully written.I don't think trannies writing rust is too much of an issue. They're not gonna backdoor it.Although, you do need to think about who learns of security vulnerabilities first, which is why using rust may not be a good idea.One of the few things that Jersh did right is teaching his users to **assume** that the site will get hacked. @PhenomX6 @colonelj @Jim @Hoss Additionally, if this happens, there probably shouldn't be a new Kiwi Farms. Instead, the communities within the Kiwi Farms (Ethan Ralph Board, Beauty Parlor, Community Watch etc.) should have their own websites. While Jersh handles it in the worst possible ways, there's no denying that keeping the Kiwi Farms up is not an easy task. The Daily Stormer is only still up due to weev, and people with his level of expertise and general tech smarts are extremely hard to come by.

@balrog_booger @PhenomX6 @Sansos @Etroe @Hoss When he starts to require custom software, it means that his site is going to die a slow and painful death.It wouldn't even require IPFS, he *could* run the site on some random hosting provider and provide access via Tor, the issue is, he would lose most of his userbase.Access from the clearnet with a normal web browser is unfortunately a necessity, even if all his users downloaded IPFS, it still wouldn't allow the website to grow with an easily accessible clearnet URL, it also wouldn't show up in search results.You might say "IPFS gateways!", but they would quickly blacklist his content if pressured to do so.He would have to switch forum solutions to something that worked over IPFS, or create his own, because it's not just being connected to a webserver and making HTTP requests.IPFS also has essentially zero privacy. Not only can you see everybody's ip address, but also all the other content stored in their IPFS node (which may allow you to deduce who they are, and what they're viewing). This would be a serious concern for Kiwifarms users.IPFS would cause the forum to die a slow death, while at the same time, not offering the privacy benefits of Tor (which would also cause the forum to die a slow and painful death).
