Correct, and it’s a good system. Also it kind of equalizes the “pain” of taxes (for high earners, the dollar amount and percentage may be higher, but your needs are already covered and what’s left is more about what luxuries you can buy, so you don’t “suffer” to nearly the same degree that a poor person would).

On a generational timescale that’s actually what happens, but it’s a good thing, because it incentivizes productivity and innovation. Bureaucracy in all its forms.And certainly, big corporations like apple or linkedin are also susceptible to bureaucracy internally. I've worked at big companies like that and there's all kinds of bullshit that really wouldn't survive in the free market.But there's still an accountability mechanism in the form of shareholders / profits. It's kind of a roundabout way, but it's still there.(Well, and govt bailouts are a problem too)

Easy to be "prosperous" when you rely on the USA for all your military defense and Russia for all your cheap gas. I'm sure they'll realize some of the drawbacks of that arrangement this winter. Besides, what superpower will put the USA under its nuclear umbrella while we build the antifa worker's paradise here?That said, I've got nothing against social safety nets in general. Unemployment Insurance isn't "socialism", though.

NHS has always been overrated, but I've heard from many a source that it's gotten pretty bad the last few years. I'm sure it's better than whenever they have in Islamistan, so it's no wonder all the momos want to move there for the free bennies!
