Some were for fighting and in the past, some for war.Pitbulls were bred for fighting. My rat terrier will never bite me unless, I presume, I repeatedly attempt to intentionally harm her (which I will never do) - any time I have to do something to her she doesn't like (such as putting on her sweater before we go outside into below freezing temperatures), she doesn't bite me. She playbites/nips at my hands. But if she sees a squirrel, rat, rabbit, or bird on the ground before her? Instincts activated, she rushes forth to kill it.Pitbulls activate that instinct but not just for animals smaller than them. They're meant for fighting, not as pets. If they were confined to being military dogs, they'd probably do somewhat well. 🤷

@Gerfand @WhiteDissidentRadio @skylar well actually a dog of the Jack Russell Terrier breed in New Zealand named George, puts himself between two pitbulls which saves a group of kids. George is a local hero to the point of having a statue, however the wiki page gets edited by some guy to remove any mentions of Pitbulls despite all five articles it's made up of mentioning them.
