@EU_Commission Curious about the definition of “recycling” in this context.Does ”thermal recycling“ count? Downcycling to some cheap replacement material? What's the quota of packaging being recycled to new packages of the same quality?

@derfopps @EU_Commission this^Also, does "recycler" mean someone who puts the used up packaging in the proper bin, or someone who buys that bin wholesale and turns it into useful products?

@samgai @EU_Commission @derfopps Yeah.If they used definition 1 then those numbers are great.If they used definition 3 those numbers are meaningless without looking into what happens with that plastic after it's collected, and what we the nations could do with it but aren't doing.

@EU_Commission That's utter BS.Most consumer plastic packaging consists of compounds that cannot be meaningfully recycled. Plus there are just too many forms of plastic (raw material + added chemicals).We're still very very far away from zero waste. Even the highest numbers in the list are a disgrace.
