@furgar @Nazareno I don't know why The Atlantic seems to be singled out for these fake article pics, but this is another one: at this point you can pretty much assume any of these types of images without a link, or not findable with a quick search, are fake. Note that the picture is captioned as a painting (that caption is from an actual article titled "HOW BAD CAN A LAWYER BE?"), Abby Olheiser hasn't written for The Atlantic since 2014, and the pic is from the Detroit Free Press.

@mrsdarling @furgar Jesus was a charismatic street preacher. What all did he get into that his biographers a century later chose to leave out? And what was lost because editors didn't like the biography? And was Jesus even literally one man? :^)

@progo @furgar 1st century historian Tacitus - the greatest of all Roman historians - who mentions the execution of Jesus/CHRISTUS Annals XV.44 when mentioning the fire of 64 AD. Tacitus reported Jesus' death to happen during the reign of Tiberius Ceasar while Pontius Pilate was procurator of Judea. So the time is recorded. Tacitus called Christianity evil & a mischievous superstition. He had no motivation to lie about Jesus' existence and crucifixion.

@progo @furgar p3 Paul the Roman citizen acknowledges he persecuted the Christian church. He lived at the same time as Jesus, traveled the same regions, attended the same obligatory festivals as a Pharisee & says he knew Jesus' brother James. He wrote in 1st Cor. that Jesus was crux. by the authorities.Why would Paul, a contemporary of Jesus & a leader in Jerusalem, who arrested Christians & held clothes during their stoning, suddenly convert incl. leaving his leadership role for a rumor?

@mrsdarling @furgar when you put it that way, the historical bits of evidence do suggest that the Gospels may be about one man and perhaps not an amalgamation. We can't really establish that he didn't make use of brothels every chance he got, or some other vice, unless you accept his supernatural infallibility or something. Not that I personally believe he was a hypocrite.
