       I have been interested in getting into small amounts of Bitcoin for a while now and finally decided to begin today. Looking at exchanges I was going to settle on Coinbase but so far they want my phone number; drivers license info; address; and who knows what else if I get past that. Is this normal ? I feel like it’s going to want to a DNA swab next and I haven’t even gotten to make a single trade yet. I’m in Canada if that matters.#bitcoin #coinbase

       @publiclewdness Coinbase are a bit more cautious than most, but that kind of thing is quite normal. Coinbase are probably more reputable than most other exchanges, but that's not say too much, I use it, but I get that they can be a bit akin to a fiat bank at times.For what it's worth, PayPal has something in the way of a BTC service, but I don't know if it's any good.

       @ChrisWere I'm going to check around a bit and see what other options I can find before handing over what they want. On one hand I get that my normal bank wants all this too but part of the whole appeal of crypto is getting away from big brother and this seems like a lot of effort to have the same experience so far.

       @lx242 Sadly no I haven't gotten into Bitcoin. Can't find an option that would suit me. If it isn't going to be anonymous then may as well use conventional methods. Still holding out hope.
