       There's seemingly no trick nor unexpected terrible downside to the protocol itself, seems like it's efficient enough to be self-hosted, posts and accounts seem signed independently from instances, and there's no crypto requirement whatsoever.It's just that it's completely privacy-agnostic, you never know when proprietary extensions will pop up later, and network effects can still lead to a main node with high federation costs and censorship capabilities.So mostly just a fedi copycat, but fancier.

       @Theehermit it spun off from Twitter but currently it's a Jack thing (who is no longer a part of the company and holds rights for at most 1 vote afaik)I think we can do better, but it looks decent and specifically designed to not be ad-centric, so that's definitely impressive for a Silicon Valley startup
