GrapheneOS is no longer recommended by Techlore.. Anyone else noticed these shenanigans in the GrapheneOS space?https://github.com/techlore/website/commit/0db537d64bfaecf468c892b1c3b62fb21eb35c2c

@SpeedBump @AndrewTheGreat @b3nji The marriage is over. CalyxOS is using APV from GrapheneOS despite explicit requests to the contrary.GrapheneOS android-prepare-vendor Android 12 port must not be used by CalyxOSThere has never been an explicit license in APV but rather an implicit one and we explicitly revoked permission for CalyxOS to use our code going forward. @RRFK @SpeedBump @AndrewTheGreat So, this is a falling out of licensing? GrapheneOS is still a viable solution? I ask because I love it, I've been using it for a few years with my Pixel 4 XL, and currently waiting for a shiny new Pixel 6 Pro to arrive to reaplce it with. It will be unfortunate if GrapheneOS isn't the go to any more, CalyxOS doesn't seem half as good to me.

@RRFK @SpeedBump @AndrewTheGreat I think I've answered my own question, GrapheneOS is still the best in my mind ♥. Regardless of the licensing issues they appear to be having.https://www.privacyguides.org/android/grapheneos-vs-calyxos/

@b3nji Only having read a few comments, and not really knowing all the players or drama, it appears to me that techlore is sore that grapheneOS (the standard) will not allow CalyxOS (the variation) to use their hard work. In the ollaborativecreative space, this usually only happens when someone fails to give proper attribution (open source or not). My guess is CalyxOS team is claiming they created something they didn't.This is political on behalf of techlore. @SpeedBump @AndrewTheGreat

@b3nji Based on the privacy informatuon in the link you shared, I too am much more comfortable using grapheneOS. I would even (shhhh) pay for the updates. Let's hope that never becomes the case, though.*bad analogy warning*I will be the arbiter of how well my relationship with my wife functions, not her ex and their family.@SpeedBump @AndrewTheGreat

I think I understand now. For anyone who's interested, here is a short rundown of the issues they have been having with the lead of GrapheneOS. He appears to be a bit of a numpty.Seems to be a lot of school yard nonsense. https://yewtu.be/Dx7CZ-2Bajg?t=3031

@b3nji The product is like totally great, but the leadership are like totally jerks. So pretty much every project like this. Linux, Minecraft - the list goes on. Hell - dump all of Microsoft if you don't like toxic leadership.

@bifpowell @b3nji this is the key to the internet, a d why we are losing over time. "On the internet Noone knows if you're a dog" as the new Yorker comic went, and yet instead of merit, folks wa nt to worry about personality or abrasiveness or if they are toxic manliness too much or anti Semitic or pro trans...... Fact is, nothing matters but the code. Don't like it, fork it.

@Tankenator1 Agree. I won't trust techlore now for privacy, because they are compromised. They have basically admitted that they won't endorse the superior product due to the politics of ooen-source.My inadequate summary:Graphene:Calyx=Jobs:Wozniak@bifpowell @b3nji

@RRFK @SpeedBump @AndrewTheGreat agree, GrapheneOS is phenomenal in my eyes. Steve Jobs was a dick, but he made great products when he was about, no one batted an eye.
