@Jessica @mia it turns out there was a medical benefit to bloodletting but it's not a panacea.apparently also just injecting saline triggers the same response.i guess blood gets old sometimes and it's not bad enough to trigger being recycled but it does perform worse and cycling new blood in is sometimes good.

@Jessica @mia medicine is expensive as shit though and the american system exposes that to the public while the euromeds tend to hide it in giant government budgets.i tend to think there's probably more gatekeeping than there needs to be. but i'm alone in this. most people seem to think just adding more insurance companies will fix the problem.

@Jessica @mia like i do not really believe they need 20 years of schooling when they are glorified instructions followers. the only reason you train people extremely heavily is for high risk decision making but if a doctor goes off official script they get sanctioned/fired and you really don't need to be staffed by people heavily trained if they're not allowed to do anything other than what some desk sitter with no patient experience says or else.the lack of autonomy in medicine is a real issue.

I think certain moments in the United States, in certain areas, represent an ideal system. But, overall, no; And, even those moments are spoiled by ills in other parts within the same system.I believe that most of us in the United States believe in a shared, idealized concept of a "best system", but this "best system" has never truly been and unfortunately will never be.

Get the dosage wrong, treat the wrong thing, inadvertently contribute to antibiotic resistance, plenty of things. All the same, it's probably a good idea to have a backup to the Canadian medical system.

If they're going to be drug dealers anyways, might as well cut out the whole song and dance about doctoring.Though doctors here have cut back decently on prescribing opiates after the disaster that was Vancouver. A lot of them have signs up now that they don't give out painkillers for "back pain".

@parker @Meier @bot i had some neck muscle seizures that would not stop for many hours. so i put some DMSO gel on the seized muscles and within about ten minutes i had half the range of motion in my neck back. i did it again the next day and had maybe 80% range of motion again after ten minutes. it's fine now.fam has persistent muscle cramps and just keeps taking painkillers. problem still not fixed.:blobcatthonking:

I've never read about that stuff before, but buying a few medicat textbooks, learning basic stitching, that kind of thing, would be worthwhile if I want to live more remotely in the future.
