@Tyrone @graf Both Bitchute and Odysee we're supposed to be that and in both cases they just became centralized because it was easier to set up and maintain, video hosting requires quite a lot of processing power and space, that's a lot to ask for in a decentralized Network. As "web 2.0" as self hosting is, unless there's some miraculous advancement in video hosting tech, that's the best option.

The ddos issue is counterable by the redundancy feature after a few tweaks to the current implementation. Distributed denial of service is useless against distributed hosting of content, if hundreds of peertube servers are hosting the video files ,you can’t take it down by hitting a single failure point.Self hosted federations are the definition of decentralized.

Once micropayments are fully integrated, affordable distributed transcoding and storage is easily resolved as well.Bitchute and odysee abandoned p2p because it makes tracking viewers and selling ads more difficult, not for actual technological limitations.

You can watch videos hosted on poast.tv from peertube.red and or any other sites that federate with each other. There already is video redundancy. If a video becomes popular, instances with free redundancy storage torrent the files locally, then join the distribution network. for example, here’s a video from my lawsplaining example site. As you can see in the provided attachment the data for the video is hosted and served from multiple different instances already. There are some refinements that need to be done to respond to active attacks, but are really just tweaks to the current system. There’s no need to torrent as a user, you just go to your subscriptions tab on your instance and click play, it’s transparent to the user Every other PeerTube instance is a potential server of the video. taking out one instance doesn’t stop you from watching the video hosted on a federated instance from any other PeerTube instance. The power of DDOS is many attacking one, with distributed hosting it becames useless. With redundancy it already happens, and you underestimate how super fans will easily pay for nodes to store and reshare their favored creators content. It’s one of the most requested features for PeerTube.that’s some gay niggerfaggot shit right there son. distributed transcoding/hosting either gratis by communities or subsidized/paid through lighting microtransactions if needed. activity-pub and torrent over whatever protocol wins the wars. Blockchains are cool but they aren’t magic money printers.

I’m actually really confused here. These terms have existed since February with literally no one being found in violation other than Ethan Ralph after he openly threatened Julian himself. It comes off like Graf feels he was attacked or used in some manner when through the normal course of working out a deal he discovered the two entities had different and very openly stated TOS / values.This happens in the course of business everyday. The normal thing would be to either ask for a meeting with Odysee to address the issue and explain that anything poa.st would be involved with would not be held to that or say their values don’t align, wish them well in their business and move on.To just start telling his entire audience to cut Odysee off and take negative action against them seems like a bizarre and disproportionate response.

I'm not arguing that the two organizations shouldn't be at an impasse. They clearly present different values and that's ok. It doesn't seem like Odysee was trying to attack or hurt Graf/Poast in any way though. They simply were offering partnership which Graf is free to turn down. To respond so aggressively and with vitriol doesn't make sense though. There doesn't seem to be anything underhanded on either side. To start telling people to never support Odysee and shitting on it openly when they have done nothing to you seems like a bad response.
