@BirdieLovvorn I hardly ever use the self-checkout, and yet, most of the time the employee at the door wants to see my receipt. One employee back some time ago said they checked if you had an item that wasn't bagged at checkout like say, a bigger package paper-towels, or 40 lb. bag of birdseed.So in other words, they figure I paid for all the bagged stuff, but somehow I managed to sneak my 40 lb bag of sunflower bird seed right passed the checkout person. 😁

@cully45 @BirdieLovvorn 😁 😆 That's what you'd call - pretty gutsy.------I find the practice of checking my receipt annoying, but then again there is no telling the amount of merchandise that is taken out of stores.I know one thing... I have no intention of taking a chance of getting a criminal record over a 40 lb bag of birdseed, or any other piece of merchandise for that matter.🙂

@cully45Ann,Speaking about shoplifting - my Mama has a story about herself as a young teenager. She was traveling on a bus full of teenagers going to summer camp. The bus driver announces he will be stopping for a quick pit stop at some store or the other.The kids sitting around mama all promise each other to steal one item from the store for fun. Mama had never done such a thing and knew it was wrong, but still felt the pressure to go along. @BirdieLovvorn

@cully45She gets to her seat, waits till the bus is moving, opens her palm. Looks down at it - it reads, "God bless you"She immediately, threw it out the window. Said it felt like she had been holding a red, hot coal.Thus ended her short life of crime. @BirdieLovvorn

@SweetIceTea @BirdieLovvorn Good one! That would do it. I stole two pieces of bubble gum when I was abour seven, after Mass no less... Boy, knew it was wrong and couldn't wait for confession. Yup, penance, apologise to the store owner and pay him the two cents....Never did that one again.

@cully45 @SweetIceTea I lifted a pack of life savers from the Woolworths in downtown Atlanta. We walked to the store, my Grandmother didn't drive and she was in the city center. On the way home I walked ahead of her and unwrapped the tube...and proceeded to choke on the life saver. I too was around 6-7 years old.
