       @noah_williams depends what you tell it to do I suppose, but the whole thing with dd as I understand it is it just... does what you tell it to do, whether that's a good idea or not. which is why people say it's so dangerous

       @deprecated_ii @dowitcher pretty sure the answer is no. The USB actually needs a dedicated boot partition formatted. Otherwise the bios will just think it's data.

       @RustyCrab @dowitcher whatever lets the drive be bootable appears to be baked into the ISOpossibly the liveUSB tools are doing things in the windows style? I've never bothered learning much about this layer of things
