Typically I wash all colors together and keep whites with bleach separate. If you are worried about color bleeding you can also separate you colors into lights and dark/bright colors.

@Malkdome @Merlin-NL I've been doing mine for like 18-19 years but I literally only own one white shirt I never wear because I dont like white and my mattress cover. I've never had light colored clothing that I have to consider whether to wash with whites or not. I would have normally asked my mom but she was busy

@graf Short answer is yes, if it's not a new thing that's never been washed before. However it's not about color as much as is about washing temp and type of fabric. Woolen light pink sweater, or lace whatever should not be mixed with jeans, towels, bedding and cooked for 3 hours in washer and then centrifuged for 20 mins, for example.

@graf I've done hodgepodge loads they usually don't bleed. If you know it's new wash 'reds' and whites separately. I usually never use bleach on whites; only when I clean the washer.

Yep. The bleach releases the color into the water because it's removing it from your colored fabrics. Also can depend on whether you use hot or cold water. Hot water makes it easier for the color to bleed out.
