Why on earth would replacing Gnome with Xfce on my media server negatively affect video streaming to other devices on my LAN? Video playback is fast and smooth if the media server starts Gnome but if it starts Xfce the video streaming suffers continuous cuts.

@alejandrobdn I think gnome has video hardware decoding by default, if that is the case xfce would need manual configuration to do it too.
