tap tap tap...... is this thing on?seems like it. surprised to see quite a bit of activity around. i think i'll try and spend a bit more time here, but finding federated people to follow so that i'm not just in @SDF feels a bit complicated. i think if federated discovery on the platform were better/easier that it could grow exponentially.thoughts or recommendations for finding people to follow?

@mikes @SDF Here are some tricks I found to find people you want to follow. First, try searching on some hashtags. Not everyone tags things, but it can get you going by finding some people to follow. From their, you can follow who they boost. Second, take a peek at the Federated timeline every so often. This is made up of the stream that SDF folks follow, so it will give you some connections. But the Federated timeline can be like drinking from a firehose, so only peek in every so often.

@cs @SDF hey, thanks! great tips. i'll definitely look at following people that are boosted, which should help expand the audience i can look at. i did check out the federated timeline but wow, that was an overwhelming firehose!

@mikes What @cs said. Local timeline, then hashtags and once in a while drink from the firehose.Whenever someone posts something interesting, click on the name and take a look at what they posted and who they boosted. Very often, a person who has an interesting bio and interesting personal posts will be worth following.
