       To answer @pinemarten question from yesterday, the picture regarding energy in the Ukraine is now more clear. Basically, the initial massive strike wave destroyed about 15% of their generation capacity. Past 60% and the damage will be truly catastrophic, the entire grid taken offline indefinitely. Until that critical threshold, infrastructure delivering power from nuclear PPs (which were not targeted yesterday) can eventually pick up most of the slack, after repairs and reroutes. If it's to take the entire grid permanently offline, the idea would be to destroy substations and relays delivering power from the nuclear PPs, not the plants themselves.Beyond that, UA sources are reporting that in addition to the Air Defense umbrella being unable to deal with the scale of such attacks, many Ukrainian AD missiles have been stored improperly and are thus useless. There is also a cost ratio problem when it comes to drone attacks, as the kamikaze "Geranium" drones are much cheaper than the missiles used to shoot them down (assuming they get a hit).Uncle CSAM has promised additional AD systems, including the latest Patriot batteries, but it's not clear if these will arrive in the numbers needed to really make a difference (or, for that matter, at all).

       @DK_Dharmaraj @pinemarten Good post, but I question one thing.>many Ukrainian AD missiles have been stored improperly and are thus uselessThis is the same thing Western media was saying about Russian missiles. Is it possibly just a lie that everyone sings at their opponents, or was it originally projection?

       @BowsacNoodle @pinemarten This is UA sources with internal connections reporting it, but obviously skepticism is warranted. That said, their AD is clearly struggling, this morning there were attacks an order of magnitude less than yesterday and most everything still got through

       @DK_Dharmaraj @pinemarten Sounds like it was projection from the start. I shouldn't be surprised.

       @BowsacNoodle @DK_Dharmaraj @pinemarten It is very believable. Post-Soviet times were an absolute mess and Ukraine is a country that never really got back up on it's feet unlike Russia.

       @BowsacNoodle @DK_Dharmaraj @pinemarten Newbie question here but how does one store missiles improperly? No anti-desiccant gel?

       @DK_Dharmaraj @pinemarten Judging by the stellar performance of these systems against a swarm of slow, cottage-industry drones in Saudi Arabia a while back. I'd say it's not even clear if they CAN make a difference should they arrive.

       @BowsacNoodle @DK_Dharmaraj @pinemarten Honestly, a decent way to get a good picture of the Ukie total casualties since the SMO began has been simply taking the numbers they periodically report for the Russian side and assuming that's what they themselves suffered. "Cries out as it strikes you", the fake and gay country

       @CrustyB @DK_Dharmaraj @pinemarten That is a good question. I'd assume they need semi-regular oiling to prevent rust and maybe changing out firing mechanisms or other components known to fail from rust or age. Even a car that sits in a barn will often look horrid after a few decades of neglect.

       @BowsacNoodle @DK_Dharmaraj @pinemarten Perhaps everybody's air-defense missiles are a lot less effective than claimed.

       @Bro-Drillard @DK_Dharmaraj @pinemarten Probably true. Didn't the Iron Dome get wrecked by literal Chinese fireworks? Like they shot a bunch of them as decoys along with a few dumb mortars to exhaust salvos.
