With todays dependence on the internet and power from external sources (power plants) its easy too see why we as a society will be set back 200 years if the nukes went of during the Cuban Missle Crisis during the 1960s we would only have been set back 50 years due to less dependence on Government and most people at the time being self sufficient to a degree, as I state we are living on borrowed time. The only thing we can do is prepare and help lift people out of the ashes and be teachers and warn the people not to make the same mistake, reintroduce religion, teach them to read and write, save books.

When I was a retarded kid, I played Fallout 3 and had grandiose ideas of how I'd be this epic wastelander and wanted the nuked to fall like some people fantasize about zombies.Ofc I then decided to woosh away my retardation because I have people I love and care about, but also realized if I didn't get obliterated I'd absolutely have to spend the rest of my life in a bunker more than likely because that shit doesn't dissipate over night.

Fallout is the fantasy but reality is more like the movie the road. Also same here, I have people I care about and wouldn't want them to die needlessly. The truth about radiation is things get to safe levels in a matter of months except for the center of the blast zone. You'd still have to worry about contamination in water/food though and other survivors trying to kill you. It would be a constant exhausting battle to stay alive after a nukes fall.

@Paulyfrog64 @LTJG_Pliskin People don't worry about things until shit hits the fan.There are a lot of skills that you need to learn to exist post-disaster. My father taught me how to sew wounds and clothing, can vegetables, prep light go-bags, proper bushcraft, tool maintenance. He wasn't even a paranoid man or right wing, he just wanted to prepare for the worst and hope for the best.I have routes and backup routes planned, a car outside of the city. I know how it looks, I look like a lunatic I'm sure but I don't have to care about the opinions of people who are dead.

I have two bugout bags ready to go, as well as some survival skills I learned with my uncle growing up in the woods. I can make a fire, know the area I'm in, can clean wounds.I'm definitely not as prepared as you... but I'm not knocking it either.

@LTJG_Pliskin @Paulyfrog64 probably survive the exchange and then starve to death after the Russians ground burst our bread belt and poison everything. One can get zapped with 20msv a year before having issues, internal irradiation from fallout is a different story though
