Fahrenheit, the shittiest unit to measure anything in. Example, °C is an SI unit. Let's look at an example:30°F = 1.111°C300°F = 149°CMakes absolutely no fucking sense. So why use Celsius, you ask?Water, the most abundant/important molecule on earth.Freezes at 0°C, boils at 100°C. Both things we can understand. Fahrenheit = fucked.

@fatboy agree. Recently moved to the US and going from metric to imperial is not easy. Most difficult is indeed Fahrenheit

@fatboy used by a country that also measures in inches, feets, miles, pounds, gallons... where the next bigger unit is $RANDOM_NUMBER times bigger than the previous

@fatboy That's a -1.111 for 30F. If I remember correctly, 100F was supposed to be the temperature of the human body and 0F was the coldest temperature he could achieve with a combination of ice, water, and salt

@fatboy Just to point out, 30 F is minus 1 111 C (-1 111 C) 🙂 Same shit, though, and I totally agree with you.I have used the Metric system my whole life and I can't make the Imperial system any sense at all.

@fatboy The whole imperial measuring system does not make any sense!A standard mile is shorter than a nautical mile, while there is a difference between long ton & short ton. This is madness! A kilometer is the same over land, water or another star. Same with metric measuring units!Imperial is…madness.

@fatboy a pedant writes: Kelvin is the SI unit :)Use Celsius and you get nonsense like "oh today is twice a hot as yesterday"

@fatboy Fahrenheit is fine if one forgets the salt-water-ice nonsense and considers it to be a scale of hotness instead.0 °F as in "0% hot" is pretty cold100 °F as in "100% hot" is pretty hotAnything outside this range is an extreme, making "below zero" sound quite frightening. "Above 100" describes not only unpleasant weather, but also a sick person.Having said that, it's still unintuitive for someone who grew up with Celsius :) But I can't blame Americans for sticking with it either

@fatboy Fun fact: the Celsius scale was originally reversed, with 100 defined as the freezing point, and 0 defined as the boiling point. This was changed in 1743.Fun fact 2: They're like that because that's the definition. 0°C is where water freezes because it's specificied exactly as that. Fahrenheit was defined as 0 being the temperature of a certain brine solution, and 96 being the human body... 32 being the temperature of ice water. Because this obviously makes sense

@huy_ngo ah yes. You are right, Kelvin is the one. Oops. I know this, don't know why I said Celsius is one 😅🤔

Correction, Kelvin is the SI unit for temperature. Oops. And absolute zero in Kelvin is very serious!

@fatboy I’ve been saying this for ages. Celsius is a standard measurement for a reason, because it works and makes sense.

@fatboyAccording to the UK's National Physical Laboratory... "Unusually in the SI, we also define another unit of temperature, called the degree Celsius (°C). "https://www.npl.co.uk/si-units/kelvin@philbarker

@fatboy Actually, just to make it worse 30°F = -1.111°C
