       @bot @techhut i don't really care for foss being a cloning factory. otherwisethe kde one has more whitespace in it. and the apple one is more transparent. if i had to spot a guess why you think it looks worse is because they didn't respect the fibs.the space from the border to content on apple's is the same within the groupings as it is between the groupings. the eye sees identical spacing as a kind of grouping system. the KDE one has differing amounts of spacers which makes it look cheaper.

       @bot @techhut look at how far the highlighted groups are from one another in KDE then in Apple. then look at the distance from the borders inside the highlight to the content. there's two sizes of whitespace on this panel.there's only one size of whitespace in the apple one.

       @bot @techhut yeah in professional design books they talk about how they're really managing the whitespace more than the content. you should make sure to pick your tabstops as it were and then use those particular sizes or it starts to look inconsistent.apple doctrine does put extra spacing between buttons, if and only if there is a significant cognitive reason to. for example "delete all my shit" is 2-3x spacing from "save file"
