I have sad news: mastodon.technology will be shutting down by the end of 2022. Access will be restricted no earlier than December 1. More details here: https://ashfurrow.com/blog/mastodon-technology-shutdown/I encourage you to export your data and migrate to a new server as soon as possible. Thank you to everyone who trusted me as their admin. This was a difficult decision. I wish I could continue, but I can't.

@ashfurrow@mastodon.technology If anyone is looking or interested in starting or hosting their own Fediverse instance, we'd be happy to help. Otherwise, there are many instances across the Fediverse to choose from. Luckily, from my experience, the loss of one instance almost always results in the birth it many new ones.Good luck to Ash in his endeavors and condolences to his family and family member suffering from terminal illness.

@ashfurrow I'm so sorry to hear about the situation you are in and wish you all the best. As a fellow masto-admin since the spring of '17 days myself I have a little bit of appreciation for what is involved and your site is orders of magnitude bigger and certainly orders of magnitude more burdensome too so that is quite a load you've carried all these years!Since I started coales.co your instance has consistently been in the top 10 most active on mine and has been a large and very positive presence on my timelines. To say mastodon.technology will be missed is an understatement!That said taking care of yourself and your family always takes priority and this is 100% the right choice and you should NOT feel bad or sorry or disappointed for it! You and many others may feel sad at the moment but it's for the best and everyone will manage.Take all the time you need and I hope at some point you find a home in a nice new comfy corner of the fediverse!

It's been a hard couple of years for me too, so I can emphasize, although I won't claim to know how you feel, because I know how annoying that is when you're digging deep to keep going. Good on you for giving your users a heads-up and a chance to migrate to another instance, despite your struggles. That shows a real strength of character that I'm sure will help you through the hard times. I find it helps to remember, this too shall pass ...
