@martijnbraam They also periodically enable those sponsored shortcuts after updates. Default is one thing, but to disregard the user's explicitly chosen settings? šŸ‘Ž

@martijnbraam Forever I hope... I understand the heat mozilla is taking, and a lot is deserved, but what is the alternative? Brave and their crypto cancer? Yet another fork of Chromium?

@primalmotion maybe some new browser projects are needed. (don't start with new rendering engines _yet). Some that are not governed by big corps

@martijnbraam Oh.. how I wish for this. But being realistic, there is 99% chance this ends up as archived repo after 6 months...

@primalmotion well yes, that's open-source. 10 projects start with a new idea and 9 fail. But some will become amazing projects

@martijnbraamThe difference is that all of those things are defaults that Firefox deliberately made easy to change.Meanwhile Google is making it impossible to change Chrome, if you want to go back to no ads.Firesfoxes imperfect is still vastly superior to Google's appalling.

@martijnbraam @primalmotion well I can't take credit for working on that in particular but I think us porting it to Qt in 1:40h is pretty good https://youtu.be/X38MTKHt3_I

@martijnbraam @primalmotion a wayland frontend for links (graphical mode) would be great if someone wants a project.
