       Oh, I just figured out that all the videos on the 076 PeerTube instance that won't load because the frontend is too gay to correctly recognize Wasabi storage can still be viewed in MPV.For example:mpv https://video.076.ne.jp/w/6pkuKceosivoeqQJzWstwU

       Not sure if it works in VLC, but who the fuck even uses VLC in 2022?

       @ryo Does it work in Media Player Classic running in Wine? I don't even know what "it" is, it's just a funny question to ask.

       @TerminalAutism If you can open the video from the command line in it, maybe.

       @ryo I use. What's wrong with VLC?

       @nk There's nothing wrong with VLC, MPV is just more minimal, which is something users of window managers are typically more into.And newcomers to Linux or BSD (which most likely use some bloated DE) are more likely to use whatever media player their DE comes with by default, and maybe the people in between the 2 "extremes" would install VLC.And since the desire to be a "moderate" is disappearing in current year, I said "who uses VLC in current year" as a joke.Also, I remember somebody at the PINE64 forum complaining about the Christmas hat in VLC for whatever reason, which I to this day can't really understand.

       @ryo Oh! Thank you!Frankly, I believed you gonna describe some technical differences in which MPV outperforms VLC. But what you said is also fine :-)

       @nk The only technical difference is really the fewer features MPV comes with, it's really just all you need for streaming videos from online video platforms or direct URLs, as well as viewing or listening to locally stored files.VLC on the other hand has more features available in the GUI, while MPV is more suitable for use in things like dmenu, Rofi, or the command line.But it's ultimately a matter of preference, there's no real winner or loser between the 2.
