@deprecated_ii I find it really weird there is such an obsession with tattoos in American culture. Like people will say all the time they NEED a new tattoo. I've witnessed multiple people pick out the tattoo they are getting that night on their 30 minute lunch break. We brought it up once and one lady saw it was courage and bravery, as if the girl was able to stop the bull from charging because she was willing to sit there without flinching. Very telling, when you think about it. Another saw it as a “big things come in small packages” idea, but the girls were almost all horrified and scoffed at the way the guys saw it: That girl’s gonna get turned into strawberry paste by that thing when it runs through her.

@Tepid_Tapir @deprecated_ii I might have a hot take here but imo groups of people are just NICER to look at without tattoos. Before I moved out of America over a decade ago it was reaching the point where everyone around me had visible tattoos - I even remember seeing face tattoos - and it was just gross. I constantly had that "dirty" feeling you might get when you're around trashy women. I feel like I can smell pic related, and it's not a good smell.I don't have the yellow fever but I can certainly appreciate that gook women aren't all covered in trashy ink and that their cultures will in fact will treat a person with tattoos completely differently than someone without. They are objectively more beautiful versions of themselves because of it - something that whites should also strive for. And the ones that DO get tattoos, like Yakuza, are for highly symbolic reasons and they don't half-ass it. Unless you're in SEA, of course.

@Remi @deprecated_ii What I find interesting about Japan is if you have tattoos, it actually fucks you out of a lot of Ryokans and onsens. Which I bet is partly why a lot of people don't have tattoos there, you're giving something up.
