Text continued: Advertisement and tracking agents can themselves be vectors for malicious code. They will also slow down your device due to the additional load of data that has to be transferred, loaded and displayed.3. What you should doGoogle's ability to push changes like this relies on their quasi-monopoly in the browser space and will impact the majority of internet users.

Developing browsers is expensive and complicated. This means both that we won't see any truly new browser emerge from any of this and that changing a Chromium derivative enough to truly stave off googles influence is impossible. Thus, Chromium derivatives uphold Google's quasi-monopoly and might be unable to find a way around future changes with a similar direction. Even if they find a way around this current change. Brave, Vivaldi, Edge, Opera are all Chromium derivatives!

Instead, consider switching to Firefox or a Firefox based browser like Librewolf!Depending on your interest in this topic, the switch can be as easy as installing Firefox, exporting your data from Chrome, importing it to Firefox and installing uBlock Origin. For a deeper dive, look into Arkenfox User.js.

@Little_Rascal much like with google, there isn't much we can do - we don't control the company nor its CEO, all we can do is hope, and I lost all of it in Mozilla, personally. I'd rather help Falkon developers or any other alternative open-source browsers, even if they are chromium/blink/webkit based.Problem being a lot of them (Opera, Le shill lion, edge) are at least partially proprietary for reason uh none really just cuz.I feel like supporting mozilla is like putting trust in a stick when going to a gunfight.

@spaetzler @Little_Rascal @hj honestly, nothing. You won't be making your own browser that's good enough for the modern web and all companies constantly castrate their browsers. I'm betting my left buttcheek that Mozilla will silently switch to Manifest V3 in 2 years at most. They've been on that trajectory ever since they killed XUL extensions.

@Moon @Little_Rascal i know but they haven't been very cooperative on developing replacement either. A lot of thing that could be done in XUL addons simply impossible in "new" addons, even to this day.

@Little_Rascal I also suggest implementing a Layer 3 adblocker as part of your Wireguard setup. You can even set it up to block G****e themselves.Ask me how if you're curious and do spread the word.
