Showed all the posts naming that town and found a huge clump of posts of an old man following ho-bots on twitter posting his name, phone number and address, along with a clear face pic and nudes. Curious I went into his replies and he is posting it dozens of times per day then complaining people are always calling him scamming him for gift cards. Looking at his timeline on the who to follow tab were three more older men doing the same thing with various degrees of self doxing and complaining.

Requiring emails just creates problems for your users, and even causes the stupid users to self-dox occasionally.No-email works for Ramble, It works for Poal, it works for nearly every site on Tor, it works for the other fediverse instances on other software that allows disabling email. It even worked for Plebbit (reddit) for the majority of the site's existence, before the lefties turned it into their propaganda hub and started requiring emails just to make it harder for banned "wrongthinkers" to come back.

I disabled new logins for a while on fbxl video because peertube has incompatibilities with openssl3, but before I did I noticed that tons of accounts were obviously fake and going to become a spam problem. I turned on email verification and it seemed to help a lot since they use fake email addresses most of the time.

@AmericanChampion @graf @GorillaRapeFantasy Yeah, it’s in beta test now. Allows account creation/authentication via telegram. Uses a telegram bot for notifications via chat instead of over email. Once it’s done I may hack it over to a better back end than Telegram.Lawsplaining.peertube.biz for example is using it now.
