I fixed the size on this meme: original 3.8MB; fixed 541KB; ~7x smaller.Possible thanks to h264 encoding - h265cels stay mad.

@Tadano So H265 doesn’t have -tune stillimageSo, from what I can see, H264 is better at still image videos.Perhaps there’s some way of achieving it via -filter_complexbut I’ve found that that slightly messes up the picture’s RGBattached is version using filter_complex. You can see the colour switch at the 5 second mark

@billiam What (ffmpeg command?) did you use to accomplish that?

@gachigasm CC @Tadano @applejack I use two commandsffmpeg -i input.mp4 -vcodec libx265 -crf 0 -preset veryslow -tune stillimage output.mp4and then ffmpeg -i output.mp4 -i still.jpg -filter_complex "[1][0]scale2ref[img][vid];[vid][img]overlay=enable='between(t,17,17)'" -c:a copy output2.mp4input.mp4 is the original video. still.jpg is the still image to be used (I grabbed a screenshot of the video via MPV)Note: you’ll have to adjustbetween(t,17,17)to beyond the maximum length of the clip if you want to avoid a slight colour shift (mentioned in my other post on this thread).Also: you could usebetween(t,0,5)if you want a bumper image before the start of the video as in this video: https://images.nobodyhasthe.biz/post/1644

@applejack >0.141 seconds longer than the original>colour shift in the image (less yellow (actually looks a bit better))>audio bitrate up from 134 to 145 (although now that I look my encoding increased the bitrate up from 129)unacceptable!jokes aside, that's pretty impressive. The good thing about h264 is that it just werks.

@billiam @Tadano @applejack >mpv basedBut first command encodes it into h265 with tags that don't work on it per your other post (and personal testing) in an insanely high quality, just for you to replace it with a still image later and just copying over the audio?

@gachigasm @Tadano @applejack oh yeah, there that's a typo - don't know how it got in there, it should be: ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -vcodec libx264 -crf 0 -preset veryslow -tune stillimage output.mp4

@gachigasm @Tadano @applejack I just checked and runningffmpeg -i input.mp4 -i pic.jpg -filter_complex "[1][0]scale2ref[img][vid];[vid][img]overlay=enable='between(t,17,17)'" -c:a copy output.mp4is actually slightly better than the double command. Even has an 11KB smaller file. Putting the between statement after the end of the clip is a new development for me. You can just use any image the command, it seems (from a quick test). weird

@billiam @Tadano @applejack How big is the file if you just do `ffmpeg -i input.mp4 output.mp4`?

@gachigasm @Tadano @applejack filter_complex is still useful for creating e.g. a 5 second bumper like this onehttps://images.nobodyhasthe.biz/post/1644-tune stillimage should still be useful for optimising slideshow videos (although perhaps this is done automatically)
