Got this watch as a gift from an uncle a few years ago, had to change a battery to bring it back to life after a while, quite cool, I think Do you guys still go analog, digital or you rock a smartwatch or band?

@joel I went thru a "unique watch" phase a few years before the pandemic--analog only. But they kept dying fast and every time i tried to change a battery it never brought them back. 😑 so now i just check my phone...

@joel I bought a Casio F-91W six years ago and it's still going strong. Only change was swapping the plastic band for a woven strap. I love this watch.

@joel @brianb I’ve got a Casio digital watch too. It has robust time zone support which has been super useful for someone who travels as much as I do. I had a digital watch in the past which I replaced the band on about five separate times.

@joel I wanted something that *looks* like an analog watch, but had some more features under its belt. A huge factor was also battery life, since I didn't want to charge it every other day.The only obvious contender was the Fossil Hybrid HR Collider with its e-ink display.It has its downsides, but it does what I want.

@joel sad to say i use an Apple Watch, but I do have a few analogue and digital ones too. I have a cheap casio, a g-shock and a couple of fossils. But my Apple Watch is my day to day watch.The only thing I really use it for though, is tracking exercise and answering the occasional call.

@kev @joel the app isn't great, and the software on the watch feels a bit wonky. It does what it's supposed to though, and I'm happy with it.Also, on my watch specifically, there seems to be a tiny bit of moisture in the case. Whenever I'm on a hike and it starts raining, the panel fogs up. Not a big deal, I could probably send it in.What's really nice though is that you can swap the wristband, like you're used to from other fossil watches.

@joel an analog watch that I have. Nothing fancy, it is a Fossil Q Hybrid but I don't care about the functions. Got it on sale at -75%. I don't wear it that much though. I usually wear a Casio CA-53WF-2B because it looks like the first watch I had when I was a kid and used forever until it fell to pieces.

@joel I used to have an analog watch that was powered by wrist movement, but it stopped a few years ago and the quote to fix it was more than the cost of the watch. Now I wear a Mi Band 3 which can monitor heart rate, sleep etc. but syncs to my phone rather than the cloud.

I wear my pinetime but then the issue is that I can't see it outside unless I put it in full brightness but then the battery goes down quickly. And I have to remember to change it all the time but I do charge it. Having a watch that I can wear at times that are less casual and I can see outside and I don't have to charge like my casio gshock would be nice

@joel big fan of Casio, my wife got me an MTG gshock for birthday, ages ago. it's like jewelry for special occasions, super durable and truly solar powered unlike the fisher price Garmin I'm wearing for its surveillance capitalism features these days. If only the gshock could tell me how I feel 🥲

It was like the first smartwatch (considering the fact that the first PDAs/smartphones were just palm-sized address books and calendars, with maybe a tiny memo function.
