@Yurt_Dweller I would bet on the thorium salt reactors coming online first as they have functioning energy production experimental units. The fusion stuff is well like everyone else, still going for energy positive goal. Just because you have controlled fusion doesnt mean they dont have techincal challenges using it to boil water.

After that they're estimating commercial-ready in over a decade, and who knows how long it would actually take to build a functioning plant. This is still very much pie-in-the-sky nerd porn, they listed off a bunch of things they still need to figure out, and they are not trivial, and in my opinion, not going to be commercially possible in the current world economic model.
