@TheEternalBungholio @kuroihitsuji1 I loved Street Fighter EX plus Alpha games. Killer Instinct was a lot of fun. I have always liked KOF, Soul Calibur, and Tekken for the most part. Early DOA games but not so much the recent ones. I actually do enjoy fighting games I'm just dog shit at them lol.

A crowd gathered around a machine genuinely interested in what's happening and hoping to see a new combo, move, or secret for the first time. Quarters lined up along the screen as people patiently wait there turn. Seeing that one guy that has been bodying people get demolished by a skinny geek no one thought knew how to play the game. It was fun shit.

@SavageGerbil @Jim @TheEternalBungholio @kuroihitsuji1 pinball machines had a few things in it's favor: competition arrived to end the stern monopoly, outsiders/new blood began to develop pinball machines with unique ideas, and even the boomers in it had a passion for it. Hence why pinball continued even when arcade games struggled, there were people willing to keep the industry going.Case in point, pinball machines from around 1983-85 (before high speed came out) that were seriously cost reduced and then again with stern machines from after Williams left the pinball industry. Stern machines in particular didn't innovate boardset wise until competitors began adding lcds in the backboxes, but during that time they released many hits while Raw Thrills and other arcade vendors stagnated hard.

I dig them, now. Used to swing by the mall after work a couple times a week pre-pandemic, the weird shit store has close to a dozen tables.I think bar purchases helped out pinball's survival a lot. Same with the Golden Tee machines you see in a lot of taverns, they're still cranking those bastards out

@PhenomX6 @Jim @SavageGerbil @TheEternalBungholio @kuroihitsuji1 SEGA released a Chunithm cabinet that runs at 120 FPS last year though.Though I haven't been able to try it out, as I keep getting kicked out of game centers because mask fascists can't handle the fact I can't wear a mask due to health conditions, and neither I will try it out in the more friendly game centers, because I tend to be kicked out of SEGA, Scamco, and Taito run game centers, and even playing at a good game center will ultimately still make my money go to the mask fascists.And since these 3 companies happen to make the arcade games I like, I just stopped going to game centers completely.

I never played Phantasia because of the big chibi head models, but everyone tells me it's fantastic. Back then I was hyped around Symphonia and just played Eternia after that. Haven't missed one since Vesperia, though.

Its on psp, you can emulate it with ppspp gold, and you can grab the iso off CDromance

The main story script from what ive been told is still largely the originals as well, so if you know the original, you should be good. I know some people dont like putting up with that, so i understand if you dont want to.
