Reminder that HSL is superior to RGB. HSL is high-level, RGB is like the assembly language of colors. All colors turn into RGB at the end of the day to display on the screen, but HSL is designed for humans.

@alex https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Color_Models:_RGB,_HSV,_HSL#Choosing_a_Color_Model i was trying to see if one or the other was more preferable for an "absolute" field of colour not dependent on relative accuracy of displays but im not seeing that, i guess neither of those address that. but yes i agree with you that it's easier to use hue-based systems

HSL is baaad. It isn't perceptually uniform. It makes color space a cylinder when it is irregular. HSLuv is cool.

It does make one have to think a little more about color, but it is the necessary minimum you need to think about color. We can pretend our bodies our cylinders...but you don't have to get very far before it becomes enough of a misrepresentation of reality that it stops you from doing essential things.
