I told him to close registration except when he wanted to invite people onto the instance, particularly since he was on Google Cloud and thus financially liable for shit going crazy. I pointed out that he almost certainly did not have e-mail verification active and someone would soon notice and begin to create spam bots. He was dismissive of it and that pissed me off so I opted not to give him any data. I was poo pooing his article because A LOT of the administrative and moderation work done on Fediverse isn’t captured by the admin-fe at all, its done in the command line. He stated that he had to “defend his data” which a shit argument because as I stated to him, a vast majority of the administering and moderation is done outside “the data set.” I can only assume he is constructing an article around this flawed data set right now. As a ph.D candidate I get that he has to produce articles, but these are filler trash nonsense, such pablum devalues the doctorate, he didn’t create, discover or observe some previously unknown stuff, this is just rubber stamp tier nonsense.

@grafYeah I reread. Was mostly griping about Josh and the KF stuff. For obvious reasons, I'm recommended every KF hitpiece. If I was KF's PR guy (imagine), I'd have hammered three points home:1) Threats, plans, and calls to violence, are against site rules, have always been against site rules, and the offending content was taken down within 27 minutes. It took Facebook 29 minutes to take down the Christchurch shooting. 2) The ringleader of the push to censor KF is doing so not out of the goodness of their heart, but to cover up and erase evidence of sexual crimes against minor children 3) Even if you find KF abhorrent, the same powers that take it down (or make it open to attack) can be used to take down marginalized voices. @sjw @p @Moon

In fact, CF literally handed Josh one hell of a talking point: All Keffals really wants, is for CloudFlare to step out of the way, so that their friends could commit a crime. Just an aside, the *other* thing I'd have done in his position, is to have a static site, on a different domain, on a different host, with *zero* UGC, with all the information from the Keffals forum OP. Obviously, Keffals would want that taken down, too. But it's a static site, that only contains evidence of their wrongdoing, and cannot possibly be used to post a threat of violence. This becomes a lot harder to explain to journos and abuse departments, who, you gotta remember, *are* human beings capable of at least some critical thinking.

Reducing the size of any images provided as receipts (with a "complete" archive available as a magnet link) could help, but making it static was mostly to make it impervious to fedposting, and to enable it to be hosted from a number of $3 VPSs
