My brother is a lot like me, but more conventional, less opinionated, less inclined to assign nefarious intentions to the media. He tends not to mind stuff like the new Star Trek shows, the well advertised content out of Netflix, Amazon and co... Personally, I miss when the worse I suspected of the media I consume was greed. When you see them doubling down on massive failures, you really have to wonder what is motivating them. It's not even impossible to make quality, relatively original content pushing the Cathedral's talking points. The Expanse (yes, it's an adaptation of a book, but of a recent book that wouldn't have been that well known had it not been for the show) is very "diverse" in the modern way, but since they didn't force it on a franchise that originally wasn't it feels natural.Anyway, maybe the franchise trashing is subsidized in ways that limit it needing success, and that if they can starve us of quality content we'll end up coming back to consume what they want us to. Of course, that is an impossible bet to win in the Internet age.

@ChristiJunior @Jim @Leyonhjelm @coolboymew @weimarculture i want to clarify though, if i fucked up, i will try to fix it even if you don't get an apology. I just found when people EXPECT an apology, unless it's because I hurt somebody I have a mutual caring relationship with, they're often playing social status games. I don't like thinking that as a default but it is just what I have experienced.

@Leyonhjelm @ChristiJunior @Jim @weimarculture @coolboymew my position regarding this thread is that "SJW" is characterized not by the demand to apologize, but by the intensity of their outrage and willingness to go nuclear immediately and try to ostracize, get you fired etc. I think most people power trip on apology demands, not just the absolute worst people.

Even before remakes and sequels got woke, "bad" remakes, adaptations, and sequels were everywhere. It's just we've all collectively blanked out that live action Ghost in the Shell exists and the same goes with every bad horror film remake or sequel.
