Actually, the marrying-yourself-part of FE:3H is still not the weird part of the marriage mechanic that means nothing in the end. The weird part is the relationship with Rhea. My gosh does FE love incest lately. Fates? Eughhh.

@HyperboreanWave SPOILERS.So your MC, or Byleth, the main character, is born dead and Rhea puts the heart of the Goddess (our loli immortal trope of THIS FE game) into him/her, to make Byleth LIVE. Apparently Rhea (who is the Goddess's descendant) had been putting the heart into various children for a hot bit trying to reborn, somehow, this Goddess (Sothis). For some reason Byleth is the perfect vessel or maybe death does it, because Sothis wakes the FUCK up in Byleth's head and starts talking to him/her. And eventually Sothis "awakens" more, granting Byleth a super-saiyan upgrade but in green.At the end of the game, you can "marry" Sothis where you put your dead mom's ring on and say it's your marriage commitment to the voice inside your head.It's also not the weirdest marriage/love end in this game either.
