@runtimeterror they converted multiple of my domains to premium. they did not up the price until i lose them but they force me to register yearly, presumably because one day they are going to jack it up on me

@norm ethereum naming service, its kind of conceptually similar to dns except it's on blockchain. before everybody freaks out, it's actually one of the few good uses of blockchain in my opinion, it only uses payment as a way to prevent spam and . It has a fixed dollar price difference for three letter, four letter, and more letters names. the money goes to a nonprofit instead of for profit (they've never even touched it thus far.) it (probably) can't be censored, names aren't set aside, they can't revoke or steal them, doesn't have the concept of premium names just the three tiers. if a domain expires you have a generous grace period. after the grace expires, it re-enters the market at an extremely high price, which decays over time until someone wants to pay it. i guess that could be construed as premium.

@privateger @norm oh i should also mention, an interesting feature of ENS over DNS: anybody can pay to extend a registration for someone else, which if we were in a different dimension where ENS was the thing instead of DNS, him being in prison wouldn't have resulted in anything stopping working. Also the ENS names are just NFTs so you can actually have them be owned by a DAO which in turn can have any kind of governance you want for a group of people for a single name, all without a central authority.
