Any fediverse film photographer can help me understand what caused this? It's from a roll of Kentmere Pan 400 which I shot before with good results. It's on the neg so not caused by scanning.#Photography #35mm #Askfedi

@mgrondin looks like some kind of bubbles during the development process. Is it on every frame?

@mgrondin looks like drops of developer. a bit more time than usual between developing and washing/stopping, maybe? one more idea: the film for some reason was not well moistened by developer, so it lead to such non-uniform pattern.

@mgrondin psychedelic! Ask my dad who developed films on his own for many years and he was puzzled as well. Are other shots on the roll like this? First thought was some interaction between the developer and surfactant, but it seems to have affected only the light areas. Black hair is fine.

@soc It is visible on just about every shot. Maybe it's caused by the lens? I think the couple shots that don't show it(or as much) where shot with a different lens

@mgrondin bubbles or high temperature. Is it your development or processed elsewhere?

@peterk It's a lab. I've taken all my film there and this is first time this happened.

@mgrondin that is all I know that could cause this, but it should not happen in the lab. Maybe try to ask them, they should have more experience. I only do B&W development at home.

@mgrondin looks like foam in the developer, like there was wetting agent in with it. Or they use a mono bath that's about done. Either way this is the lab in some way.

@mgrondin maybe reticulation from severe temperature differences during processing too

@enot that seems to be the general consensus. It's also been mentioned that it could be related to storage/quick temperature change causing it to sweat. Like using/opening it too soon after taking it out of refrigerator.
