@elftummy I'm really enjoying this thread. Just a small point on this: From what I gather those labour reforms achieved pretty much nothing. They weren't enforced and even if they had been economic conditions meant that they weren't practical. They were basically just virtue signalling to "think of the children" female voaters on the east coast.Conditions began to improve later when machinery and better economic conditions made it uneconomic to send kids to work or employ them.
