I will use wired earbuds for as long as it is physically possible. I have a great set of bluetooth ear-nukers but it just seems like a bad idea to stick little EM radiation gizmos into my brain.

@ogre_fucker @thebleedingphoenix the trade-off is between the batteries not holding charge vs the cords wearing out. Also how much Bluetooth annoyance you can tolerate

@mattock @thebleedingphoenix Bluetooth annoyance is actually a serious issue. Like when I get into my car for example and it has to randomly decide which device to use and what to do with whatever is playing.

@ogre_fucker @mattock bluetooth's a security risk, too, and it makes your phone/device easier to track. i use bluetooth very rarely nowadays.

@Neigh-Sayer @ogre_fucker @mattock i have thought about faraday cages in my most schizoid scenarios ("what if the collapse sparked emp bombs over the atmosphere to disable everyone's electronics") but ultimately just turning off bluetooth on all my devices and using only data on my phone is enough for most. plus is run a custom os on my phone, so i don't have to worry about google and other system-embedded spyware.

@thebleedingphoenix @Neigh-Sayer @mattock If we get hit with an EMP like that, even if you save your phone from it, it's not going to be very useful when nobody else has one, and there's no internet, and no cell phone network, or anything. Forget your phone. Start welding spikes and metal grates on your car for raiding in the wasteland.

@ogre_fucker @Neigh-Sayer @mattock yeah that was my conclusion, too. is much as i'd like to foolproof all of my tech, when it comes down to the wire i doubt my phone or computer will matter.
