You can just put in a screw anywhere in such (real) homes.In the US, yeah, you have to use a stud-finder to locate the pieces of wood inside.

@Royper I hate drywall because of how lazy construction crews use it. Most of the time it's only one layer that even a toddler can punch through.Anyway, dowel in the attached images is what I've used to mount large screens.
