@Malarkey33 well they are subject to crazy abuse and if they fail they have warranty/reliability problems.

@DarthCuckWalker I understand warrantees cost money and people have to make money, but it has to be a 90% margin and they don’t have r&d they sell the same thing for a decade.

@Malarkey33 I ran shooting comps for about 10 years. The only reliable timers were the expensive ones. Reviewed some phone-based app implementations, they were a joke. They were $70-$100 IIRC. What prices you seeing?

@Malarkey33 PACT and Competition Electronics and CED (last 2 might be the same) were what we used. PACT were hard to program advanced stuff like par times. My knowledge on this stuff is 10 years stale. :(
