I want to set up a simple network share on the local network. What good choices are there in 2022?I don't need to deal with Windows.

@urusan Arch wiki has a good page on each of them that ought to be portable to other distros.

@urusan this one is quite good and not terribly Ubuntu-specific: https://www.tecmint.com/install-nfs-server-on-ubuntu/Beware that NFS is a fickle beast. Specifically, it doesn't like the server vanishing without explanation. So running the server part on, say, your laptop isn't a great idea.@tulpa

@urusan @tulpa Okay, I had to figure it out because I use Nautilus and it's slightly different for Nemo. Go to File>Connect to Server... and fill out the dialogue box. Put in the IP address of your device, don't touch port number, select SSH in the type dialogue box, type in the directory you want to start in if you want (default is root of the file system), and type in your username/password for the device you're connecting to.

@urusan sshfs exists, as others gave mentioned. I'll add the suggestion of webdav -- rclone allows you to really easily run a webdav server with rclone serve webdav, though I don't remember how good mounting support is.
