@Ghislaine Chong qing city is primarily famous for hotpot, pandas and tech industry. Its one of the first larger cities part of the Yangtze river system. Topologically its hilly as fuck, so during the 2020 floods its got some metal looking high way waterfalls. Historically all the cities that are part of either the Yangtze or Yellow river have flood control by connecting tributories and drought control by building dams. Been doing that since before we invented chopsticks. This year's northern hemisphere got hit with record heatwaves, so instead of flooding June-July, we get a drought at the tail end of summer.

@Ghislaine the forest fires threatens some of the townships down there. Firefighters needed help so the army got send down with planes and helicopters. The terrian (in the forests) is extremely hilly so a normal guy cant exactly move equipment and people to staging areas on foot. So alot of the local guys start driving their motorbikes to help. Basically a last kilometer delivery army.

@Ghislaine some of the front line guys arent locals, so when they finish a firebreak or leave for another forest fire, they get swamped with gifts in thanks.As per zero covid policy, tests need to be done for contact tracing because there can be nothing done to prevent close contact.

@IAMAL_PHARIUS @Ghislaine I don't always appreciate the gift giving culture in China, but when you see people so enthusiastically throwing gifts at people who have come to help them out it really does help me appreciate it.Say what you will about the party and what it is doing in China, but they have built up a sense of China, and taking pride in your country and your people…This sort of civic engagement and willingness to help out to protect your community and communities that aren't even near you is very much lacking in America among white people. Don't get me started on the attitude of black people. If you were helping out in the black community instead of showering you with gifts black people would throw trash at you and call you racist for not giving them more stuff.

The suburbs was extremely successful at demoralizing the white men in it (which was the point as the suburbs are a product of the mass expulsion of whites from American cities after ww2) but there are still intact white communities in the appalachians and the midwest. During the worst days of black riotting when 200 buildings in a single city would be burned in a week, there were still plenty of footage of urban streets filled with Irish and Italian guys armed with knives and bats (and probably concealed firearms) and rural communities filled with big bearded guys with rifles. There is still a sense of white ethnic kinship in this country even if it's been dispelled from the suburbs, metropolitan areas and the "hood"
