I do feel bad for the people who've been pressured into going to college. Your family treats you like a black sheep if you don't live up to that expectation. @Invictus frankly, i feel sorry for every society with more than say 20% of the population with a college degree. I mean, nowadays when the expectations are so ridiculous. Just imagine the job market in like 10 years. You'll have PhDs begging for McDonald jobs while people after a trade school will be making real money welding shit.

@RRFK @ThatCrazyDude I am by no means wealthy, but I have practically no debt at all. If I went into a trade directly out of high school I would be much further ahead than I am today.

It is endemic to the institutions which worship talentless mediocrity and grovelling obedience. The engineering and tech schools were trashed after WWII as we need to employ all the snivelling worthless pedants of Europe and we gave them jobs over Americans, time and again.
