       as somebody who learned significantly higher level languages first, C is a bit weirdbecause it's low level enough that you have to worry about the low level stuff but also high level enough that you don't feel that you should have toI am not really a fanalthough assembly language programming on modern machines sounds like a nightmare

       @nihilazo if you haven't already read it, you might enjoy reading Petzold Charles' Code: The Hidden Language of Computer Hardware and Software. It takes you through computing from the opposite direction you learned (starting from wires up through high level languages), and provides a nice perspective for C and why it is the way it is. It's one of my favorite technology books of all time
