       The Chronicles of Narnia and the Hobbit got written because Lewis and Tolkien were blackpilled on the children's books of their era and wanted to retvrn to a literature of quality for their kids and grandkids. If you're annoyed about something being terrible, seriously consider making your own. It might be a classic someday.

       @TinyFern had an irl friend tell me Hobbit warranted 3 movies because it's long.So I pointed out that the Hobbit (3 movies) is less pages than Fellowship (1 movie). He shifted to say that actually it's because Hobbit is a "heavy read".  So I pointed out that it was intended to be a children's book and he said he's tried to read it several times and never finishedBro maybe books just aren't for you

       @hikari @CosmaruCiorilor To be fair, I picked up The Hobbit when I was about 13, and after reading about 60 pages describing different kinds of hobbits with nothing that resembled a narrative, I put it down and haven't tried again since then. If you happen across an extended edition with lots of anthropological notes it can be disheartening to slog through to the actual story.
