       @urusan Yes, but my city is small. We have a 4th of July parade here that's such a big deal that the state makes us the capital for the day.

       @kaip That's probably the closest to this kind of thing happening regularly, but even so, something like Times Square in NYC doesn't accommodate close to the over 2 million people that would be a quarter of NYC's population: https://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/million-times-square-years-experts-60092017These events do happen rarely though. I was inspired by a specific one in my city's recent past, and the article mentions another one that happened in Philly.
