@RoyalJohnny242 Yes, in some ways it has a maturity not often found in those shows. There’s a part that deals with that guilt you feel from abandoning your hometown that was a kind of plot I haven’t seen in a long time. Plus girls w/ eyebrows are cute

@nozaki @RoyalJohnny242 but it’s more mature, in that the author seems to have just a LITTLE more experience in the whole wish fulfillment thing. I don’t know of many of the breed that have that level of introspection about family, and it’s a message that’s sorely needed for a generation that almost all walked away from home to return in biannual visits

@WashedOutGundamPilot @RoyalJohnny242 @nozaki Here's a fun fact, Mushoku Tensei started as a web novel on a website that was made to host exclusively Zero no Tsukaima fanfiction, and was fan-translated on a website that was initially made to translate and host solely Haruhi Suzumiya novels.Mushoku Tensei is essentially an isekai trash novel in its purest form which takes itself very seriously, it doesn't hide its flaws but makes you focus on them without any sort of gimmicks.It's still the best thing that isekai genre has to offer to this day and I am absolutely livid that nips didn't produce anything better after it despite having an almost entire decade to do so.

I can’t remember how much of it was carried over, I just remember being really surprised at how much more mature the show was. It seemed like it was written by an adult, not the usual basement otaku setting up pins to knock down all the time.

@WashedOutGundamPilot @RoyalJohnny242 @nozaki It has an extremely rare quality of being a harem romance which didn't thoroughly disgust me or make me throw away the entire thing since girls weren't trophies but actual people with whom he wanted to build a family with.It wasn't a story of an omnipotent doormat with two+ floozies, but of interesting people in a world with its own set of challenges who wanted to carve out a piece of it for themselves.

@RoyalJohnny242 Yes. It’s one of the better ones; honestly surprised me with the depth of the world, the actual character growth, and themes beyond what you might associate with your typical Isekai. My only issue with it is that the author actually cucked out to the audience when it came to killing off characters instead of just driving the story as is.
