       @dave It's tricky: mockery has been effective in a lot of antiauthoritarian efforts, most prominently the Otpor revolution against milosevic. But I would agree (if I understand you correctly) that eg. Donald and Boris are not damaged by mockery or even thrive on it. I can't really grasp what the difference is except maybe that it makes them look like common joe in some sense.

DeSantis isn't a fascist, for instance, and the left has been falsely smearing their politically moderate opponents as fascist for years, and people are tired of it. Just because you're on the left and you don't like someone's politics, that doesn't make them fascist, no matter how much you repeat it.

       @dave Well it's a bit more than just "don't like someones politics" and I dunno about ron, but donald is definitely not moderate. But I still see your point about how some have been taking very cheap shots at them and that's bad.
