Finished Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky. Recommended 👍Gonna read the sequel, Children of Ruin. The third book is supposed to be released in October.

@crunklord420 oh the one with the spiders? I liked that one too. Haven't read the sequel though. The human scenes were a little boring but the spider society development made up for it.

@dioma yeah, the *SPIDER BOOK*. I enjoyed both aspects. Normally I don't enjoy the primitivist perspective (reason I didn't like Fire Upon the Deep) but yeah the spiders were neat. The writer has a good style of keeping up the suspense/intrigue while flipping between the perspectives, keeps it compelling and a "page turner".

@crunklord420 Don't I know it. They also natively support custom fonts, cbz and pdf, and don't even need the shitty program for transferring books onto it. I've been using Kobos for just about a decade now and I've always been happy with them aside from the easily scratchable screen.

@crunklord420 Portia really endeared me to spiders. And I love the concept of the living computer. Lots of cool insect tech. Was neat to see them become the masters of their world.The ending was ridiculous though. Idk didn't like it. Should have fire bombed all the xenos. No way that we would loose against spiders with their primitive tech. My human pride was trampled upon by that ending.

@Arrian @crunklord420 I have a Kobo Aura from around 2015 or 2016, it's lasted quite a long time. Also have a Kobo Touch from 2012 that I gifted away. They're still running fine.

Gateway won the Hugo and nebula award and is without a doubt the worst book I've ever read.Awesome premise: what if we discovered alien ships that we don't know how they work and volunteers agree to ride them to the last destination in their autopilot to either die or get rich finding new tech.Execution: look at how many woman I can sleep with! No, I'm to scared to ride one of these ships. Sorry won't do it. No way.
