@joel i wanted a PSP for my retro console collection for quite a while but honestly, i have no clue why, it kinda sucks lmaoi actually got one a few years back, it worked fine for approximately five minutes, then it shut off and completely stopped working forever

@mjdxp mine has seen great use for 10 years already, I am sorry your experience was not as great.Its the best emulator for pretty much everything 16bit or lower, in my opinion!

@joel i'm sure it's great as an emulator handheld, but i wouldn't know, because i've been using the 3DS as my preferred homebrew emulator machine personally for around 10 years as well lol

@mjdxp yeah, I guess the 3ds would make for a great emulator too. But I don't have one! I should look into buying one one of these days...Can the 3ds emulate the psp?

@mjdxp The psp is heaven on earth when it comes to jrpgs, there is also the 2 GoWs, Metal Gear Peace Walker and of course my favorite, the Monster Hunter series, from Freedom to Portable 3rd

@joel unfortunately no, it can emulate pretty much anything up to the SNES, and it can play GBA, DS, and (obviously) 3DS games natively, although you need to use a program to inject GBA roms into a format the 3DS can play

@mjdxp Also, there are also some Lego games! Like Star Wars and Indiana Jones which are just as complete as the console ports.Star Wars The Force Unleashed is also like, the definitive version alongside the Wii.Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts and tons of Racing games too

@joel@fosstodon.org the console was shity and had so many problem that every fucking update destroyed it a little more, and the new model was the worst thing i seen in my life.Even if i hate Nintendo from the core of my soul, when it come to portable console they are the king.

@gingerzoe I would never use an unmodded psp, I get you.But I got my psp in 2012, already in its late years and I never really considered bad at all. Compared to the original DS design...

@joel@fosstodon.org but the game base is far better in nintendo, sadly for me the psp (even if modded etc can be "acceptable" its was a total miss for sony).And now i hate them for their policy anti gamepass.i don't use the gamepass but i have above everything corp like them who pays to reduce the liberty of choice of witch platform you can use.

@gingerzoe I mean, none of that is the psp's fault, the hardware is great, and I can literally play pretty much all snes and gba games either way xDI don't care what sony is doing right now, why would I hate on retro stuff because of whats happening now?Besides, you don't even get cloud saves in you switch if you don't have an online subscription, nor can you get them out of the device officially, soooo

@gingerzoe Btw, I kinda feel like I am defending sony, which is not whats happening at all. I am more of a nintendo guy, even if I don't own any of its console I play more of their games via emulation (on my psp)I just love the psp, that's it, its my nostalgia, its the only console I've owned and played whatever I wanted on it. So there is no need to get mad at it in a post where I just said I dumped an iso xD

@joel Never gave it much thought. Definitely a good way to make backups. Our pfp is our husky mascot biting a PSP. We started the blog when the PSP was a thing, everyone on staff who games is fond of it.
