I can't wait to lie about my skill level to people I don't know about or poisoned with great, mutual contempt while I take 10,000 hours I don't have with things I don't own to get good at whatever industry I think I can pursue.I wish I learned basic shit as a kid, but my education was taken from me too. The only thing I was trained as kid through early college decently enough, the so called humanities, won't put bread on my table and certainly as hell won't help me survive hell word. At least I can write a mean essay with logically place arguments. @TheWeez @Omega_Variant Beware, the “topline” all they report U-3 “low unemployment” is merely those still looking for work, look at for example U-6 to include those who’ve often rationally given up looking for work. Also look at “workforce participation” over time.

@Argyrus @Omega_Variant @Nirty_Digger @SuperSnekFriend @hikari Hmmm, I suppose that’s all the better for places that respect D.O.s as much or more than M.D.s (more respect because the younger ones are for example more hands on than the equilivent M.D.s). No shortage of primary care physicians, no long waits to see specialists if it’s urgent, I now understand a little more about why retiring to my home town has been good for this domain.

@Argyrus @Omega_Variant @Nirty_Digger @SuperSnekFriend Sigh.On the one hand, this and this thread are evidence of one of the very most successful gambits of our ruling trash going back to FDR, sundering the ties between generations and thus further atomizing the people.On the other hand, no one’s picking up the single worst as far as I know modern workplace policy, here described as “16 hours a day availability.” As in, we aren’t going to hire you full time, but we are making very sure you won’t be able to get any other part-time jobs.If the Democrats hadn’t gone hard Left in the early 1970s (see McGovern, who retrospectively regretted all the regulations he had a hand in when he tried and failed to run his own small business) they would care about this sort of thing. But like the GOPe they hate this segment of their base.

@ThatWouldBeTelling @Omega_Variant @Nirty_Digger @SuperSnekFriend @hikari I've actually found DO's to be higher quality than MD's overall, at least in terms of being a physician in the old sense. Too many MD's are basically a legally required biological computer interface, their only job is to fill the square and perform the recommended interventions listed on the screen. DO's often have a more traditional outlook, they think more mechanistically and organically about the problem than just constantly slapping duct tape on every ailment with another Rx. I think the stigma has decreased a great deal, though, I was bringing it up as an example of something that used to exist....and I forgot what the conversation was about
